A Weekend Adventure: From Leeds to Falmouth

Choosing My Jobs Wisely

I was quietly minding my own business last Thursday, keeping an eye on potential jobs. After all, I don’t take just any job; I like to choose the ones that excite me. Before anyone jumps in with criticism, let me clarify: I’m semi-retired. I only want to do the jobs I fancy, not every job that comes my way. While this might sound a bit arrogant, I usually get about 30 job offers a day, and I only want to take on 1 or 2 a week.

Last week, as you may have read, Meg and I took a boat down to Padstow (or Padstein, as it’s nicknamed after Rick Stein, the fantastic fish chef and TV presenter). Yes, we enjoy your programmes! After that, we hopped on another boat from there to Lowestoft.

A Job to the Beach

This weekend was a bit different. A job popped up from Leeds to Falmouth, and we love visiting the beach this time of year. Our customer, Lyndsey, needed her Land Rover Discovery transported from Glass Houghton Car Sales to Falmouth.

Who are we to turn down a trip to the beach? So, we picked up the car on Friday evening. A big thank you to Ben & Ben for waiting for us—the M62 was worse than usual on a Friday! We set off first thing Saturday morning to deliver the car to our fantastic customer. She was waiting for us at Falmouth Rugby Club, which kindly agreed to let us drop the car there instead of navigating a very tight street. They even had treats for Meg Dog! What an absolute joy to have customers like this.

Beach Time!

After dropping off the "Disco," it was time to hit the beach. We headed up the coast to find a suitable spot for the night. We stopped for fish and chips from The Mermaid Takeaway in Bude (trust me, they are AWESOME!). After that, we settled into our overnight stop.

What an incredible spot to spend the night! We enjoyed a beautiful sunset, with the waves crashing on the beach all night. We snuggled up and slept soundly, grateful for another great visit to Cornwall. Next up is Dumfries and Galloway—nothing like zooming around the country!
